Overview

The Mitsubishi Eclipse has been an affordable sport coupe for nearly two decades now. The redesigned 2011 Mitsubishi Eclipse is a blend of exotic styling and new creature comforts. It offers more mileage than the previous models. It is available in GS, GS Sport and GT trims.

Power and performance

The Eclipse is powered by a potent and efficient 2.4-liter, 162-horsepower 4-cylinder MIVEC engine or a 3.8-liter, 265-horsepower V6 MIVEC engine (GT) mated to 4-speed Sportronic automatic transmission or 5-speed Sportronic automatic transmission. It delivers an EPA estimated 20 mpg in city and 28 on highways.

Body and styling

The standard features on all 2011 Mitsubishi Eclipse models include a black painted roof, black grille, dual exhaust outlets with polished exhaust tips, integrated clear chrome rear spoiler, soft touch wave form cockpit and ice-blue LED illumination of instruments and controls. The GS is equipped with 18-inch, five-spoke alloy wheels, 140-watt CD/MP3 audio with 6 speakers, high-mount center LCD audio display with clock, tilt steering column with sport-wrapped steering wheel, cruise control, air conditioning, power windows, door locks, and side mirrors, remote keyless entry, split folding rear seats and 12-volt accessory outlets. The GS Sport includes all Eclipse standard features and High-Intensity Discharge (HID) projector-type headlamps, heated leather front seating surfaces with 6-way power driver's seat, 18-inch 10-spoke alloy wheel, 650-watt (max.) Rockford-Fosgate 6-CD/MP3 audio system, power glass sunroof and leather front seats. The top of the line GT comes with 650-watt (max.) Rockford-Fosgate 6-CD/MP3 audio system, Sirius Satellite Radio with three months pre-paid subscription, high-mount LCD audio display with clock, outside temperature and compass, Bluetooth hands-free phone interface, rear-view backup camera with rear-view mirror-mounted display, automatic climate control, two 12-volt accessory outlets and power glass sunroof.

The 2011 Mitsubishi Eclipse comes with a number of standard safety features including dual advanced front airbags with seat position and occupant sensors, front seat-mounted side airbags, roof-mounted curtain airbags, 4-wheel disc brakes with ABS and EBD, Active Stability Control with Traction Control (ASC), air bags, tire pressure monitoring system and anti-theft alarm system with remote keyless entry.
